Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year, is the most important traditional festival for the Chinese. One of the favourite get-togethers during Chinese New Year is when families and friends celebrate by partaking in reunion feasts. The dish Pén Cài 盆菜 is a popular celebratory dish during these get-togethers. As the old saying goes, "the family that eats together, stays together". Pén Cài is a Lunar New Year dish that includes delicacies such as abalone, dried oysters, scallops, prawns, sea cucumber, fish maw, lotus root and many more. These ingredients, often braised in thick chicken broth, are served in huge claypot. This third stamp issue in the Reunion series, features none other but this popular Lunar New Year dish – Pén Cài.
