This stamp issue features ginger plants that are native to Singapore. Singapore is home to at least 26 species belonging to the Ginger order, many of which are rare or endangered. The National Parks Board has, over the past decade, been actively engaging in the conservation of these plants to ensure that they will be sustained for generations to come. The stamps in this issue features illustrations of four ginger species that are found in Singapore's primary forests – Zingiber singapurense, known commonly as Singapore Ginger (1st Local), Cheilocostus globosus, known commonly as Asian Spiral Ginger (70c), Phrynium hirtum (90c) and Conamomum xanthophlebium (S$1.30).
