This stamp issue by Pos Malaysia celebrates the nation's ancient manuscripts and literary classics. Part of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme International Register, the collections featured are prominent works that are recognised as national literary classics and documentary heritage collections. Something that bibliophiles and history lovers would be familiar with, the stamps feature towering works such as Hikayat Hang Tuah (60 sen) – a traditional Malay epic that tells the story of Hang Tuah and his four warrior friends, Hang Jebat, Hang Kasturi, Hang Lekir and Hang Lekiu; Batu Bersurat Terengganu, the Inscribed Stone of Terengganu (90 sen) – a stone tablet that shows the earliest evidence of Jawi writing in Southeast; as well as Surat-Surat Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah, the Correspondence of The Late Sultan of Kedah (RM1.30) – a royal document collection that portrays a Malay state in transition, a times when it needs to deal with colonial powers while focusing on matters such as social change, politics, economics, foreign relations, education, religion and customs.
