The Public Utilities Board (PUB) was formed in May 1963, and is responsible for the production and distribution of electricity, water and piped gas in Singapore. Since its inception, during the first 25 years of its journey, PUB has consistently extended and upgraded its facilities and services to ensure that the demand from all sectors are effectively met. Commemorating PUB's 25th anniversary in 1988, this stamp issue uses a water droplet illustration to depict water supply in the nation (10c), with electricity supply symbolised by the light bulb (50c) while piped gas supply is depicted by a gas flame (S$1.00). The three stamps, when combined, show a complete view of the supply and distribution of these essential utilities in a continuous flow to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers.
