Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, founded on 1 May 1947, was China's earliest minority nationality autonomous region. Covering a vast area which spans northeast, north and northwest China, it is inhabited by the Mongolian, Han, Manchurian, Hui, Daur, Ewenki and Oroqen nationalities. This area is blessed with dense forests, rich pastures, fertile land and rich mineral resources. This stamp issue by China Post celebrates the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 1997, and the three stamps in this issue are respectively entitled "Celebration", "Unity" and "Advance".
