This joint stamp issue between Australia Post and China Post features beloved icons of the Commonwealth of Australia and the People's Republic of China respectively – the koala and the panda. Koalas are found from Queensland to Victoria and parts of South Australia, in areas where suitable eucalypt trees are available for feeding. The panda, meanwhile, is confined to small areas of Shanxi, Gansu and Sichuan provinces. As of the time of writing this, koala is classified as an endangered species while panda is classified as vulnerable. It's of utmost importance to protect and save these species from extinction. Both stamp designs are jointly issued, with the stamps issued by China Post at a denomination of 20 fēn (koala design) and 2.90 yuan (panda design).
