The city of Bangkok was officially founded as the Thailand's capital on 21 Apr 1782 by King Rama I, while Rome was founded on 21 Apr 753 BC. The first stamp in this issue features the Golden Mountain of Wat Saket, a unique man-made mountain in Bangkok. The second stamp, meanwhile, features the Colosseum, an elliptical amphitheatre located in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. The Colosseum was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980. Both stamp designs are jointly issued, with the stamps issued by Poste Italiane are both at a denomination of 0.65 €.
