The stamp issue, the fourth in the Reunion series, features a very important tradition that the Chinese keep to usher the Chinese New Year – Spring Cleaning. Before the day of the Chinese New Year, Chinese families will spring clean their house, a symbolic act to sweep away any ill-fortune, a wish to put away the old things and bid farewell to the old year. After the spring cleaning, the house would be decorated with auspicious and beautiful decorations to welcome and usher a brand new year, with the hope that the year will bring good fortune, happiness, health and wealth. The stamp design illustrates family members carrying out spring cleaning together in good spirits and cheer to welcome the Chinese New Year.
