Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia that never sleeps, was granted the city status on 1 Feb 1972. It was the first settlement in Malaysia to be granted the status after independence. Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding urban areas form the most industrialised and economically, the fastest-growing region in Malaysia. Celebrating 50 years of being Malaysia's first city, this stamp issue, a collaboration between Pos Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, consists of a single stamp that features the iconic buildings of Kuala Lumpur, such as the KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers, Merdeka PNB 118, The Exchange 106, Saloma Link Bridge, Sultan Abdul Samad Building and The River of Life.
