Millions and millions of years ago, our land was inhabited by a range of astonishing prehistoric animals. In conjunction with 2022 Stamp Collecting Month, Australia Post invited collectors to explore some of these creatures from the Cretaceous Period in this stamp issue on Australian dinosaurs. During the Cretaceous Period (145–66 million years ago), present-day Australia was joined to Antarctica, New Zealand and South America, forming the supercontinent Gondwana. Living on this land were prehistoric animals such as the titanosaurian sauropod (meaning "lizard-footed") Diamantinasaurus, the theropod (meaning "three-toed") dinosaur Australovenator, the pterosaur (meaning "flying reptile") Ferrodraco, the small armoured ankylosaur (meaning "fused lizard") Kunbarrasaurus, as well as the theropod dinosaur Elaphrosaurine (meaning "light-footed lizard").
