Dinosaurs, that appeared as early as 230 million years ago and went extinct about 66 million years ago, are the most spectacular and enigmatic species ever lived on Earth. Since the discovery of dinosaur fossils in the 19th century, paleontologists have devoted themselves to the study of dinosaurs with the aim to uncover the truth about these prehistoric creatures and the lost world they once dominated. This stamp issue by Hongkong Post in 2022 features three species of dinosaurs from the Cretacious Period – Tyrannosaurus (HK$2.20), Spinosaurus (HK$2.80) and Triceratops (HK$3.70); as well as four species of dinosaurs from the Jurassic Period – Diplodocus (HK$4.00), Brachiosaurus (HK$5.40), Allosaurus and Hesperosaurus (HK$5.50).
