Dignified, devoted and with an uninviting sense of duty, HM Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered with deep admiration and affection by millions throughout the world. Her Majesty ascended the throne in 1952 at the age of 25, following the early death of her father, King George VI. This stamp issue, the first to be approved by King Charles III, is presented in memory of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The four stamps in this issue feature portraits of the late monarch at different points of her reign – a photo taken in 1952 during the Queen's ascension (2nd Class); a photo taken in 1968, where the Queen is standing in her admiral's cloak with her head tilted to the left (1st Class); a portrait of the Queen taken in 1984 (£1.85); as well as a photo from 1996 when the Queen attended a banquet at Prague Castle during her visit to the Czech Republic (£2.55).
