Singapore Post released its 7th series of definitive stamps in 1994, featuring the coral reefs of Singapore. Known as the Flower Garden of the Sea, such coral reefs support a diversity of hard corals as well as reef-associated animals. Hard corals, with their calcium carbonate skeletons, form the living framework of the coral reef. The low-value stamps in this definitive series feature a modest number of the great variety of reef-associated animals that are present on Singapore reefs – the Tiger Cowrie (5c), Sea-fan Coral (20c), Tunicato (25c), Common Clownfish (30c), Blue Candy Nudibranch (35c), Sea Urchin (40c), Cauliflower Soft Coral (60c) as well as the Pin Cushion Star (75c).
