The widespread abuse of drugs has become a human tragedy, of which it has enticed, captivated and destroyed people from all walks of life. Illicit drug trafficking, on the other hand, has undermined the security and political stability of nations. In response to this growing threat, in 1985, the United Nations General Assembly decided to convene an International Conference on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (ICDAIT) in Vienna, Austria in Jun 1987. ICDAIT aims to generate a more concerted, comprehensive and truly worldwide effort to combat this drug problem. Commemorating this international event, this stamp issue consists of four stamps, delivering some very powerful messages on drug abuse.

20 sen se-tenant stamps – The top stamp depicting a healthy young boy as part of a happy family, as opposed to a diseased torso upon addiction to drugs as depicted in the bottom stamp.

40 sen se-tenant stamps – The top stamp depicting a young boy being free from drug addiction as opposed to a diseased body still engulfed in drug as depicted in the bottom stamp.
