On 18 Dec 1972, the United Nations proclaimed 1975 as International Women's Year. It was also decided by the United Nations that the year 1975 be devoted to intensified action to promote equality between men and women, ensure the full integration of women in the total development effort and recognise the importance of women's increasing contributions to the development of friendly relations and cooperation among states and the strengthening of peace. To mark the International Women's Year 1975, each stamp in this issue incorporates the theme on Equality (10c), Development (35c) and Peace (75c) respectively in its design.
