As Singapore develops from an entrepot trade port in the early 50s to a cosmopolitan city, a prominent feature of Singapore's urban life is its changing skyline. This stamp issue by Singapore Post features the skyline of Singapore as a cosmopolitan city during the 80s. The 10c stamp features the Orchard Road Corridor, planned by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) as a "tourist belt". The 50c stamp features the Central Business District of the Raffles Place/Shenton Way area. Meanwhile, the 75c stamp features the Marina Centre and Raffles City, an extension of the traditional tourist belt of Orchard Road, with shopping space and convention facilities.
