The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 10 Dec 1948. This document set forth both the rights of the individual and the role of the member nations in the defense of those rights. This stamp issue commemorates the 40th anniversary of this historic act, with the miniature sheet featuring the full text of the Preamble to the Declaration of Human Rights.
