This joint stamp issue between Singapore Post and China Post features some of the beautiful city scenes from both countries. The Ancient City of Suzhou, as depicted in the top stamp (No Value Indicator), has been referred as the Venice of the East due to its picturesque waterways and lakes. The scene on the stamp shows the historical Panmen. A montage of Singapore's skyline is featured in the bottom stamp (60c) – waterfront and landmarks such as the Fullerton Building, the Anderson Bridge as well as the symbol of Singapore, the Merlion. The stamps were painted in watercolour by Chinese artist Jiang Zhi Nan, a graduate of the Hebei Arts and Crafts School. Zhi Nan has won many awards for his works. Both stamp designs are jointly issued, with the stamps issued by China Post are at a denomination of 20 fēn (Singapore scenes stamp) and 290 fēn (China scenes stamp).
