Orchids, among the most beautiful flowers in the world, with their exquisite colours and intricate forms, have fascinated mankind throughout the ages. Regarded as jewels of the forest world, orchids are among the most interesting and sought after plants in the world. Malaysia has often been cited as the 'birthplace' of orchids with more than 1,000 wild species growing in the ground, on the rocks or perched on other plants. This stamp issue by Pos Malaysia features a few of these orchids – the Golden Ground Orchid (20 sen), Slipper Orchid (30 sen), Serenity Orchid (50 sen) and the Fragrant Orchid (RM1.00).
