The late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj was a leading statesman, who earned the respect and love of people at all levels of the society in Malaysia. His efforts in pioneering the independence of the country will ever remain a priceless and invaluable contribution to the nation. As an expression of gratitude and token of appreciation, the Malaysia government established the Tunku Abdul Rahman Memorial, a museum to commemorate the life and achievements of the late Tunku. It is a sprawling complex made up of the original Residency building, which was the Tunku's official home, flanked by two more modern buildings, Block A and Block B, where the bulk of the exhibits are displayed. This stamp issue celebrates the official opening of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Memorial on 10 Nov 1994. 1994 is also the 5th anniversary of the late Tunku's death.
