The establishment of the police force in Malaysia (then Malaya) began with the enactment of the Charter of Justice which separated the power of the judicial from that of the legal, which was introduced by King George III on 25 Mar 1807. Political developments in the Malay States brought many changes to the policing system until the Federation of Malaysia was formed on 16 Sep 1963, upon which the police force was named the Royal Malaysia Police Force (RMPF). Commemorating 200 years of police force in the country, this stamp issue by Pos Malaysia features the evolution of police uniforms and police force over the years – uniform worn by a Peon, with the Hutton Lane Police Station and the Penang Fire Brigade in the background (30 sen); uniform of the Royal Federation of Malaya Police Force in 1958, with the "Flying Squad", which was formed to combat the communist terrorists during the emergency in 1948, in the background (50 sen); as well as the current uniform of the police force, with the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters and vehicles currently used by the police force in the background (50 sen).
