Flowers are integral to the cycle of the seasons, but also symbolic and comforting, integral to social rituals and often deployed as metaphors for hope or health. Britain is known as a nation of gardeners, with a love of the colour, fragrance and delicacy of flowers that runs deep in its collective consciousness. The first stamp issue that carries the new effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, ten stunning stamps in this issue, presented as two horizontal se-tenant strips, depict some of the most popular flowers to be seen in gardens across Britain. Featuring striking photographs of the flowers against a white background, the inscriptions on the stamp are each flower's common names, with species and varieties not identified. The flowers featured are Sweet Pea, Iris, Lily, Sunflower, Fuchsia, Tulip, Peony, Nasturtium, Rose and Dahlia.
