New Year stamps, to herald the upcoming brand new year, are issued annually by Thailand Post. This set of stamps, to herald New Year 2002, features four Thai endangered flowers – Pedicularis siamensis P.C. Tsoong (top left stamp), a local species of the lousewort found only at Doi Chiang Dao in Chiang Mai Province; Schoutenia glomerata King, also known as the Yellow Star Flowers (top right stamp) and is found only at Doi Suthep and Doi Pui in Chiang Mai Province; Gentiana crassa Kurz. (bottom left stamp) that grows at Doi Inthanon and Doi Lanka Luang in Chiang Mai Province; as well as Colquhounia coccinea Wall, commonly known as the Himalayan mint shrub (bottom right stamp), and it grows in Doi Chiang Dao and Doi Ang Khang in Chiang Mai Province.
