Singapore's Garden City journey began in 1963 when then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew planted the first tree, signifying the start of the greening campaign. Over the decades, flowering species have been introduced to beautify the city and make the nation's streetscape more vibrant. Parks have grown in numbers. The pervasive green network of nature reserves, parks, parks connectors, tree-lined roads and other natural areas has made living in the city more pleasant. Celebrating 50 years of greening Singapore, the four stamps in this issue feature Singapore's vibrant urban landscape nestled within a thriving garden with native plants and wildlife.
