This joint stamp issue between China Post and Deutsche Post features the architectural gems of different styles between the East and the West – Puning Temple in Chengde (50 fēn) and Würzburg Palace (540 fēn) respectively. Built in the 18th century, both buildings have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Puning Temple, located in Chengde of China's Hebei Province, is commonly called the Big Buddha Temple. It draws on the temple architectural styles of Tibetan Buddhism and Han construction styles. The Würzburg Palace is a magnificent Baroque palace located in Würzburg, Bavaria of Germany. It is one of the biggest and most magnificent palace architectural complex in Germany. The imperial church of the main building is typical of the Bavarian style. Both stamp designs are jointly issued, with the stamps issued by Deutsche Post are both at a denomination of 110 Pf.
