Toys play an important role in every child's life. Some may dismiss toys as a waste of time and money but play is a crucial part of growing up. Children learn through playing with their toys as it can stimulate a child's mental development. Through play, children can develop language and communication skills, use of imagination and creativity as well as develop their self-confidence. In celebration of toys, this stamp issue by Singapore Post shows not only toys of today, but also toys of yesteryears. As featured on each stamp is a new toy along its equivalent toy of yesteryears – LEGO blocks and wooden blocks (No Value Indicator), robots and toy figurines of Cowboys and Red Indians (60c), dolls and paper dolls (70c), as well as racing cars and tin racing cars (S$1.00).
