The Year of the Rat 2008 starts off a new cycle on the Chinese zodiac calendar. As the first of the 12 animal signs, those born in the Year of the Rat are often said to be high achievers, leaders and great organisers. They are charismatic, practical and hardworking. Famous people born in the Year of the Rat include Alan Turing, Pope Francis, Lewis Hamilton, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. This stamp issue begins Singapore Post's second zodiac stamp series. The stamps feature graphical illustrations of the highly intelligent, charming and enterprising Rat in all three stamps.
