The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) was established in Dec 1944, and it has played an important role in ensuring that international air transport services are established on the basis of equality of opportunity and operated soundly and economically. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of ICAO, and to highlight its contribution to international civil aviation, this stamp issue by Singapore Post in 1994 features the progressive, high-tech and futuristic nature of the aviation industry – aircraft of the future, the Boeing 747-X with Changi Airport control tower at the background (35c); the hypersonic speed aircraft, another aircraft of the future (75c); and the nature of the industry, which is fast-paced, sophisticated and technology driven (S$2.00). The 50th anniversary logo alongside the globe is featured in the 20c stamp.
