The Belt and Road Initiative (一带一路) was raised by President Xi Jinping in 2013. Inspired by the ancient Silk Road routes, it is a global infrastructure and economic development strategy to enhance connectivity and cooperation across regions such as Asia, Europe, and Africa. Combining land and maritime corridors to create a modern network linking China with the rest of the world, it involves large-scale investments in projects like railways, ports, roads, and energy networks to promote trade and economic integration among participating countries. Hong Kong has been proactively participating in the initiative, serving as the functional platform and a key link, as well as works towards full integration into national development.
Commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the single stamp in this issue features the bilingual inscription of the theme alongside images symbolising connectivity and trade. Its background incorporates elements such as shipping, air transport and logistics, visually representing the initiative's global network of infrastructure and economic links.
