Hong Kong's National 14th Five-Year Plan indicates support towards developing the country into an emerging centre for international cultural exchange where East meets West. As an international metropolis, Hong Kong boasts a number of arts and cultural landmarks, with Tai Kwun stands out as one, of which is featured in the miniature sheet of this stamp issue by Hongkong Post. Tai Kwun comprises three declared monuments, namely the former Central Police Station, the Central Magistracy and the Victoria Prison. Under a revitalisation project, an art gallery and an auditorium were constructed at Tai Kwun for art exhibitions and performances. Opened to the public in May 2018; by integrating arts into cultural landscape, it creates an innovative and diverse experience for visitors with the aim to spark public interest in contemporary art and performing art alongside community history.
