The Harry Potter series is a globally popular fantasy franchise that began with a sequence of novels by J.K. Rowling, first published in 1997. Celebrating the enduring global popularity of the Wizarding World, Royal Mail issued a set of 16-stamps, of which the regular set consists of ten first‑class stamps and a miniature sheet of six first‑class stamps. Unlike the regular stamps, which focus on human characters and narrative conflict, the miniature sheet shifts attention to the fantastical creatures that are essential to the story's atmosphere and emotional depth. Some of the most recognisable magical creatures featured in this stamp issue are Hedwig (Harry's loyal owl), Aragog (the giant Acromantula), Dobby (the house-elf), Crookshanks (Hermione's cat), Fawkes (the phoenix) and Buckbeak (the hippogriff). Each design presents a high-quality cinematic image of the creature, capturing its distinctive character and its role within the story.
