“Stories of Our Post Offices” issue was released by Singapore Post in 2023 as part of a broader commemorative programme celebrating the 165th anniversary of postal services in Singapore. Available in MyStamp sheet and complementing the main commemorative stamp set “Singapore Postal Services Over the Years”, this issue offers a more intimate, place-based narrative centred on individual post offices and their roles in different eras. By focusing on real locations and their historical roles, it provides collectors with a rich, human-centred portrayal of the nation’s evolving communication network.
The designs in this issue depict five representative post office settings, each reflecting a distinct period or function.
- General Post Office at Fullerton Building, symbolising the early institutionalisation of postal services.
- Jalan Kayu Post Office (1960s), demonstrating how postal services extended to less developed areas.
- Killiney Road Post Office (1960s), illustrating the transition into a more urbanised society.
- Alexandra Post Office (1970s), highlighting the integration of postal services into HDB estates.
- Mobile Post Office, representing innovation in reaching underserved communities.
This issue also comes with a set of beautiful postcards, featuring five designs corresponding to the five post office stories featured in the stamps.
