The Malay Sultanate Coins stamp issue is a commemorative series celebrating Malaysia's rich numismatic heritage. In collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the Central Bank of Malaysia, this issue was launched at the BNM Museum and Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur. The central theme of the issue is traditional coinage from prominent Malay sultanates, reflecting the development of trade and economic systems in the Malay world. These coins were historically used in regional trade networks as early as the 12th century. This stamp set features four notable coins from different Malay sultanates, of which three are featured in the regular stamps – Duit Syiling Timah (Pitis), tin coin commonly associated with Melaka's trading economy (50 sen); Duit Syiling Perak (Real), the silver coinage used in the Kedah Sultanate (50 sen); and Duit Syiling Emas (Mas), a gold coin symbolising wealth and royal authority in the Johor Sultanate (RM1.50).
