In line with Singapore's vision towards the creation of a cosmopolitan city that attracts world class companies and the best talents, Singapore Post issued a series of stamps highlighting the theme "Singapore, A Global City". The second set of the series, this issue illustrates the sub-theme "Communications and Technology" and it highlights Singapore's role in telecommunications and technological advancement. The design incorporates imagery related to digital networks, global communication, and modern infrastructure. This set of stamps was also issued in conjunction with the World Stamp Championship held in Singapore in 2004.
