The Purple Parade, which began in 2013, is Singapore's largest ground‑up movement advocating for the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities. It aims to promote equal access to education, employment, healthcare, and social participation for individuals regardless of ability. The annual signature Parade event sees the participation of more than 10,000 individuals from more than 200 organisations. This stamp issue in 2023 celebrates The Purple Parade's movement, with the stamp design incorporating the symbolic purple colour, which represents dignity, equality, and the celebration of diverse abilities. Through its imagery and theme, this stamp set raises awareness about both visible and invisible disabilities and promotes a more inclusive society.
