There is a total of 12 animal signs in the Chinese zodiac, which is based on five cycles of 12 years each, with each cycle tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth. 2024 is the Year of the Wood Dragon; the first of such in the 21st century. The previous Year of the Wood Dragon was in 1964 which falls in the 20th century. The dragon is the only mythical creature in the Chinese zodiac. Being an auspicious beast, people born in the Year of the Dragon are tied to the creature's multi-faceted nature. They are self-starters who move seamlessly between restful idleness and spirited undertakings. Many would go on to shine in their careers. This stamp issue is part of Singapore Post's zodiac stamp series that began in 2022 with the Rat, featuring the confident Dragon ushering in the Lunar Year 2024.
For the zodiac series, due to the continuity of the design across the 12 years, just like previous year, it's worth to also include the presentation pack in my collection.
