Taiping, founded in 1874, is widely recognised as Malaysia's first planned modern town and is home to numerous colonial-era landmarks, lush gardens, and cultural attractions that have shaped the country's development. Celebrating 150 years of Taiping City in 2024, this stamp issue highlights landmarks that reflect Taiping's rich heritage and enduring charm. Rendered in vivid colours and detailed photography, the landmarks featured are Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill), Malaysia's oldest hill station, celebrated for its cool climate, scenic landscapes, and historical significance as a retreat during the colonial era (30 sen); Pasar Besar Taiping, an iconic market that has long served as a commercial and social hub for the local community (50 sen); as well as Taiping Lake Gardens, one of the oldest public gardens in Malaysia (RM1.50). All three stamps in this issue present a balanced narrative of Taiping's identity, combining natural beauty, historical legacy, and community life.
