Preserving Hong Kong's historic buildings is like safeguarding chapters of a living history book. As a continuation of the Declared Monuments in Hong Kong theme first issued in 2007, this 2024 release celebrates another group of heritage treasures that reflect the city's architectural and cultural diversity. Rendered in a charming watercolour illustration style, the monuments featured are :
  • HK$2.20 – Bonham Road Government Primary School, one of Hong Kong's oldest surviving government school buildings
  • HK$2.80 – The Bethanie, a beautifully restored French mission building and one of Hong Kong's finest examples of neo-Gothic architecture
  • HK$3.70 – The Signal Tower at Blackhead Point, which once played an important role in maritime communication and time signalling
  • HK$4.00 – The Main Dam of Kowloon Reservoir, a key part of Hong Kong's historic water supply infrastructure
  • HK$5.40 – Kom Tong Hall, a grand Edwardian mansion that today houses the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum
  • HK$5.50 – Block 10 of the Old Lei Yue Mun Barracks, a reminder of Hong Kong's military and colonial heritage
Together, these six monuments showcase the educational, religious, engineering, residential, maritime, and military history that helped shape modern Hong Kong.
