This stamp issue is the second in a series of poster art stamps, and concentrates on domestic tourism posters from the 1930s. The first series of poster art stamps is from the Bon Voyage stamp issue. These posters feature life in the great outdoors – beaches, country pursuits and the bush, pointing to those things that were seen to make Australia distinctive. Taking cue from the posters designed for the Australian National Travel Association, the stamps featured in this issue are very nostalgic in their look – At the Beach by Percy Trompf (50c), Fishing by John Vickery (AU$1.00), Riding in the Country (AU$2.00) and Winter Sport (AU$2.45), both by James Northfield.
