Both governments of Malaysia and China have designated 2014 as the "Friendship Year" to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, which was formally established when Malaysia's second Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, signed a joint communique with China on 31 May 1974, during his visit to China. The "stamp" in this issue features a picture of Putra Perdana in Putrajaya, which houses the office complex of the Prime Minister of Malaysia; as well as the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, which is used for legislative and ceremonial activities by the government of the People's Republic of China.
