The National Day Parade (NDP) is an annual celebration of Singapore's independence and a platform for Singaporeans from all walks of life to come together to celebrate the nation's milestones and achievements. Celebrating 50 years of NDP in 2016, this stamp issue captures the spirit of the nation and its people who come together every year to celebrate the past, appreciate the present and prepare for the future. The stamps come in seven designs – six in above cover and one in miniature sheet. The six stamps in above cover feature celebrations in various venues throughout the years – 1960s in Padang (1st Local), 1970s in city streets (2nd Local), 1980s in the neighbourhoods (60c), 1990s in the former National Stadium (70c), 2000s in the Float @ Marina Bay (90c) and 2016 in the newly rebuilt National Stadium (S$1.30).
