In this day and age, Malaysian kuih are mostly commercially made with modern appliances to meet the ever-growing popular demand, hence the traditional way of kuih-making is a dying art. These kuih are local savouries served during teatime or as snack in between meals. Some of these traditional kuih are also served during festive celebrations. Such old-fashioned ways of making popular Malaysian kuih use brass moulds of various shapes and sizes, as well as materials. The stamp in the miniature sheet of this issue features conventional methods in preparing Kuih Bahulu, a traditional Malay pastry that is similar in concept to the madeleine cake, but round in shape and composed of different ingredients.
