There are a wide range of fruits grown in Hong Kong. This stamp issue by Hongkong Post, a very apt theme during the hot summer, features the type of fruits grown in Hong Kong – orange (HK$2.00), watermelon (HK$2.60), guava (HK$3.40), lychee (HK$3.70), banana (HK$4.90) and papaya (HK$5.00). The stamp designer enlarged the fruits with bold and lively strokes and included tiny characters chilling out around the huge fruits. The stamps come with special embossing effect to accentuate the bright and vivid water-coloured style, presenting a pleasant and relaxing cool summer. For this first day cover, I have chosen the coloured postmark instead of the normal black postmark (apparently not all issues come with coloured postmark). This issue also comes with a miniature sheet – click here for more details.
