Singapore achieved self-government on 3 Jun 1959. Within 25 years, the nation has made extensive progress and developed into a nation that is one of the communication and financial centres in the world. This stamp issue by Singapore Post celebrates 25 years of nation building in 1984. Common to all six stamps in the issue is a stylised design of the state lion with the administrative centre in the background. Adopting the stamp on stamp motif, each stamp highlights a representative area of development in the country.

10c – Reproduced the $1.00 stamp on National Service released on National Day on 9 Aug 1970.

35c – Reproduced the $1.00 stamp on "Sports for All" issued on 25 Aug 1981.

50c – Reproduced the 25c stamp issued on 20 Jul 1969 celebrating the achievement of the Housing and Development Board in providing homes for the people.

75c – Reproduced the 10c stamp issued on 18 Apr 1976 representing the greening of Singapore.

S$1.00 – Reproduced the S$1.00 stamp on Singapore Changi Airport issued on 29 Dec 1981 (click here to view the stamp issue).

S$2.00 – Reproduced the 10c stamp released on 21 Jan 1981, marking the 10th anniversary of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
