The Singapore Philatelic Museum was established by the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore to promote interest in philately and the collection and study of Singapore's philatelic materials as well as encourage the appreciation of Singapore's postal history and heritage. This stamp issue celebrates the official opening of the museum on 19 Aug 1995. The four stamps in this issue feature the facade of the museum and the five galleries, each with its own specific themes and exhibits – History Thru Stamps Gallery (No Value Indicator), Two Theme Galleries on "Birds" and "Festivals" (50c), Discovery Gallery (60c) and The Exhibition Gallery (S$2.00). The Singapore Philatelic Museum closed its doors to the public for redevelopment from 18 Mar 2019. It was however reopened as a dedicated children’s museum in 2022 – the Children's Museum Singapore.
