Let's talk about overprint. What exactly are overprint stamps? Overprint stamps are postage stamps that have had additional text or designs printed on them after their original issue. This can be done for various reasons, including changes in postal rates, commemorations, or administrative purposes. The overprint modifies the original stamp, sometimes to change its value, purpose, or to mark a special occasion.

Overprint stamps are fascinating for collectors due to their historical context and the stories they tell about the times and circumstances of their creation.

Above stamp issue on endangered wildlife was originally issued by Pos Malaysia on 17 Mar 2022, but without the overprint – click here to view the original issue. An overprint of 2nd International Tiger Forum, Vladivostok 2022 was added on the stamp issued on 5 Sep 2022. The additional text and design added commemorate the 2nd International Tiger Forum which was organised by the Russian Ministry of Justice, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Amur Tiger Centre, and the Roscongress Foundation.

For this issue, the overprint is placed at the bottom of the stamp (pointed by above red arrow).
