This stamp issue by Pos Malaysia, in conjunction with Year of the Snake 2013, aims to increase public knowledge that exotic animals can be made pets. Keeping an exotic animal as a pet requires some special needs, such as special housing, live food, and special medical care. The miniature sheet in this issue features the Royal Python, also known as the Ball Python (Phyton regius). This species of python is bred in captivity and are popular as pets due to their small size and their docile temperament, making them easy to handle. The miniature sheet in this issue consists of two formats – normal miniature sheet and hologram miniature sheet. The hologram however is not very visible when scanned, hence below hologram miniature sheet looks almost identical to the normal miniature sheet above.
