A complete Chinese zodiac cycle takes 60 years and is made of five simple cycles of twelve years each. Twelve animal signs are assigned to each of the 12 years in combination with the five main elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. In 2003, the Year of the Goat is ruled by the element of Water. The charming Water Goat is extremely appealing to others and can mix well with almost everyone. Famous people born in the Year of the Goat include Muhammad Ali, John Denver, Andy Warhol and Michelangelo. The stamp designs are graphical illustrations of the honest and imaginative zodiac animal of the year, the eighth zodiac animal in the cycle – The Goat.
