In honour of Malaysia's myriad festivals, 2019 first stamp issue by Pos Malaysia once again features Malaysian festivals, a continuation of the earlier stamps issued on this same theme – Malaysian Festivals (15 Aug 2006), Malaysian Festivals – Miniature Sheet (15 Aug 2006) and Malaysian Festivals – Series II (27 Sep 2012). This third series, which ties in with the Chinese New Year celebrations in 2019, features various elements pertaining to some of the main festivals in Malaysia – Lion Dance and lighting of firecrackers during Chinese New Year; Sumazau dance and Gong & Sompoton of Tadau Kaamatan; Ngajat Dance and Ranyai of Gawai Festival; Lemang and Dodol of Hari Raya Aidilfitri; as well as Kolam and Kuthu Vilakku of Deepavali.
